and educated at The Manlius Pebble Hill School, Hamilton
College (B.A., 1979) and the University of Maryland (J.D.,
1982), Mr. Burgess concentrates in real estate and business
transactions, land use regulation, and alcoholic beverages
law. After serving as a law clerk to the Honorable Austin
W. Brizendine in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County,
Mr. Burgess practiced in Baltimore City and Baltimore County
for several years before joining the firm in 1985. He was
admitted as a Director and Shareholder of the firm in 1992.
He is the past Chair of the Young Lawyer's Committee of the
Baltimore County Bar Association, and a past member of the
Section Council of the Maryland State Bar Association Young
Lawyers Section. He is also a member of the Real Property
Planning & Zoning
Section of the Maryland State Bar Association. Mr. Burgess'clients
include builders, developers, landlords, landowners, restaurants
and business owners. He currently serves as a Director of
the Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit Union and is
the past Chair of their Loan Policy Committee. He is a licensed
title insurance agent and has conducted hundreds of commercial
and residential settlements on behalf of buyers and lenders.
He has represented many restaurants and other entities in
the acquisition and sale of liquor licenses and related business
transactions. Mr. Burgess' representation includes a national
title insurance underwriter, national restaurant chains,
and other major local and national commercial enterprises.
